Legal Issues - Avoiding Discrimination in Building Relationships - S2010-10

What happens when discrimination occurs in a public school setting? There are many ways that discrimination can damage relationships, whether among colleagues, among students, or even parents and community members. As a school administrator, how do you protect against having discrimination creep into the relationships in your building? Come and learn about what case law has to say about the particular acts or omissions that constitute discrimination. You will also learn how to respond to a charge of discrimination, whether it is brought up internally through your school districts grievance process, or by an outside agency, such as the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) or OCR (Office for Civil Rights).
