UNT EDAD Masters course that is part of a Masters cohort.

This two day academy will provide foundational training in the new English Language Arts (ELA) Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Through interactive learning, participants will explore the new standards adopted by the State Board of Education which are to be implemented during the fall of 2009. Engaging strategies will provide participants with a deeper understanding of the TEKS and how they align with previous and subsequent grade levels.

Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Sheltered Instruction. If you have ESL students in your class or you are an ESL teacher and can take only one training this year, this is the workshop for you! The purpose of this training is to acquaint you with research-based instruction that enables educators to implement an approach to improve the academic performance for English language learners, while improving instruction for all students. The interactive two day session will include the basic components of the SIOP model including: lesson preparation, building background knowledge, comprehensible input, strategies, interaction, practice/application, lesson delivery, and review/assessment.

TELL is a required course for TPC candidates and interns who plan to become certified teachers in the following areas: Bilingual Generalist EC-4, 4-8 or ESL Generalist EC-4, 4-8.

Course for participants in UNT EDAD doctoral program taught between UNT Denton and Plano Sockwell. The location at the Sockwell Center will be the Red River Room
