The Administrators Responsibilities & Resources workshop for the 2010-11 school year will highlight basic information regarding the responsibilities that administrators have in the identification process of migrant children in Texas. In addition, the session will provide explanations regarding residency verification, quality control, and eligibility validation inherent in the ID&R practices. The identification and recruitment of migrant students is a state requirement. Each district shall implement a plan, provide documentation for the state and attend an annual training provided by the ESC. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

TAKS Alternative Assessment training is provided for teachers and administrators who provide alternative curriculum and alternative TAKS assessment to students who meet the eligibility participation requirements. This training will cover all aspects of the alternative assessment, including the most current changes and updates. There is no fee to attend this training for participants who are employed by Region10 districts. There is a $50 registration fee required for anyone attending this training from outside of Region10 districts.

This workshop is for members of the Counselor Initiative and Student Support Services (CISSS) Cooperative ONLY (please call 972-348-1432 to see if your school qualifies). In this session a College Board representative will share information on ordering and administering the PSAT/NMSQT on October 13 and ReadiStep between October 4 and November 12, 2010. Presentations and discussions will center on providing updates, information on resources and data-driven tools, and other methods to maximize the effectiveness of assessments which are provided for Texas students at no cost by the Texas Education Agency.

Dr. Cheramie from the University of Houston will speak on evaluation strategies for Specific Learning Disorders. There is no fee for this session for participants associated with Region 10. However, as of September 20, 2004, Out-of-Region participants will be charged $50 per day for the session and will be wait-listed until two weeks prior to this session.
