This one-day workshop will focus on the use and interpretation of the Woodcock Johnson III (WJ III) Tests of Cognitive Ability and Tests of Achievement for the identification of individuals with specific learning disabilities (SLD). All scores, profiles, and variation and discrepancy procedures will be explained. The usefulness and importance of determining intra-individual processing differences for the identification of SLD will be discussed. Several case studies will be used to illustrate the various interpretive features and to help demonstrate how WJ III results can lead to the development of specific accommodations and interventions. Participants should be familiar with administration and scoring of the WJ III. There will be a 30.00 per person charge for this workshop. Dr. Mathers book, Essentials of Evidence-Based Academic Interventions will be provided to each participant. Fee must be paid prior to the event. Who needs Oprahs Book Club when youve got literature circles? In this workshop teachers will learn to integrate flexible grouping to highlight quality literature through small group interaction. Based on the action research of Harvey (Smoky) Daniels, participants will learn how to set-up literature circles in their classrooms to foster an interest in reading and increase comprehension skills.

This three day training series will provide paraprofessionials, teaching & instructional assistants with the fundamentals of social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of young children; how to develop critical thinking & problem-solving skills, and being an effective part of a teaching team. Registraton fee: $50.00 for Pre-K, Child Care and Out-of Region Participants. Fees waived for Head Start, PPCD Staff and Parents. TRAINING SERIES IS ALL THREE DAYS, REGISTER FOR EACH DAY INDIVIDUALLY. Registration begins at 8:00 am, training is from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

This bi-monthly meeting provides an opportunity for the Region 10s public school supervisors to meet and discuss various items pertaining to their scope of practice. To attend, the SLPs must be designated as lead supervisors by their district special education directors.

Teachers who attend this institute will learn how to help their students use and master problem solving as they deepen their own understanding of what problem solving means. The training will allow teachers to explore how and where problem solving pervades and connects the TEKS and why and how students must use and master problem solving to be successful in mathematics. Fee: This workshop is available only for public school districts and charter schools who are members of the Title II/Title V Regional Cooperative Services. There is no additional fee. Please confirm cooperative membership with your district before registering. Prerequisite: This workshop is intended for currently employed teachers in Region 10. Out-of-region teachers or teachers not currently employed may attend for a $50 fee.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!! The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) is a language-training package to teach communication skills to those with limited functional speech. Participants will learn how to implement the six phases of PECS, including attributes, through presenter demonstrations, video examples and role-play opportunities. Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of how to implement PECS with children with autism, related developmental disabilities, and/or limited communication skills. The UT Dallas campus is undergoing extensive renovations. Please enter tthe campus by going north on Waterview from Campbell, or south on Waterview from George Bush Tollway and turn west on Drive A. As you pass Rutford Avenue on the left, turn into Lot J to the right. You may park anywhere in the lot except the spaces marked PURPLE. Please put your parking pass on your dashboard. The training is in the Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, which is at Drive A and Rutford (marked ECSS on the campus map). The room is directly inside the southwest door. Parking is not reserved. If you leave during the day, parking will be extremely hard to find close to the training site. A food court with Chick Fil-A, Subway and a Grill is available in the Student Union. Also in the Union is the dining hall. You are welcome to an all-you-care-to-eat buffet at a cost of $7.50 plus tax, payable with cash or credit card. You may also bring your own lunch to enjoy on campus.
